Hi

I want to use the Advantage 8.1 drivers to work on an ASP.NET 2.0 web
application using the Login Control.

Login Control requires a membership provider to be fully functional. I have
the source of Borland.Web.Provider,
Borland.Web.Security.AdoMembershipProvider etc to make a Custom provider but
i wonder if will there be a membership provider for Advantage Database to
avoid all the overhead

Thanks in Advance

One of our Sales Engineers has written one, I'll have him post a reply to
this thread.

Michail,

I have written a Provider in C# which works with the standard ASP.NET
Login Controls. I have attached the compiled DLL along with a Data
Dictionary and a ReadMe.txt file which should get you started.

I am currently working on some additional documentation as well as an
example site which will be posted to Code Central on the Advantage Developer
Zone soon.

Any feedback you can provide would be very useful.

Chris

Great job

I wonder if i am missing something about RoleProvider.
I am trying to check if a user is in a specific role using
IsUserInRole('Admin','Admin') and an ADSRoleProvider variable but
i am getting the message "UserName not found" .

Thanks in Advance

Michail,

Verify that the Admin user is in the Members table. Additionally users and
roles are specific to each application. An applicationID is created
automatically the first time the provider connects to the database. You can
specify the application name in the web.config, it is the web application
name by default.

There might be more information in the Windows Event Log. The provider will
write events to the Application Event Log when errors occur if the
writeExceptionsToEventLog is set to true.
