Hello,
can anybody help me? I am lost with the Glimpsed, Observed timeouts,
tresholds.
Can you help me to solve following example>
I have two simulated tags -
Tag1 remains in RFID reader range for 5 seconds, Tag2 reamins 10 seconds in
RFID reader range.
How should I set the Glimpsed Observerd tresholds to see Tag2 in
Multiprotocol report (10 seconds) and not see Tag1 (5 seconds). Let's asume
that there is 20 seconds delay between those two tags.
I was playing with it for several hours with no reasonable output.
Thanks,
Richard Pokorny

Richard:

Right now, the reporting models (ALE and Report Engine MP) key off of the
"New" events when building the reports. So, the smoothing for tags that
appear are not used.

We are looking to change this to give the user control over which events to
key off of. I have a build of the ALE components that does this, and we are
investigating this for Report Engine MP.

Can you tell me a bit more about what you are trying to build? If you are
just testing, it might be better for you to build off of one of the sample
business modules (Inventory Tracker, for example), to generate some XML
documents based on the events you care about.

Please send me an email and tell me a bit more about what you are trying to
build or demonstrate, and I'll let you know if I have any other suggestions.

Matt Teskey..

Hi,

First:
Glimpsed Timeout is the amount of elapsed time where the tag
is not read before it is moved to the Lost state.
Lost Timeout is the amount of elapsed time where if the tag
is not read, it goes to Purged.
Observed Threshold is the amount of time a tag will must
remain in the glimpsed state before it can move to the
Observed state.
Observed Timeout is the amount of time elapsed where tag is
no longer being read while in the observed state before it
will move to the lost state.

With this in mind, given your scenario,
If Tag1 is in read zone for 5s, you can set the following
Glimpsed Timeout = 2s
LostTimeout = 1s
Observed Threshold = 8s
Observed Timeout = 2s

This means that Tag1 will never make it to the observed
state since the threshold is 8s and Tag1 is only in the read
zone for 5s. At 7s (5s + 2s where the 2s is the Glipmsed
Timeout), Tag1 will be lost. However, Tag2, being in the
read zone for 10s will make it to the observed state since
it will hit the 8s Observed threshold. It will remain
observed for 4s (2s left in the read zone and 2s more for
the Observed Timeout) before it is lost.

I hope this helps.

Tony

Also, you need to make sure that the Collection Type =
"CURRENT" for your MPReport (this is observed tags), and the
duration of your report is long enough so that Tag2 will
have moved to lost.
