I have setup Afaria trial but I am unable to use it with
laptops. I choose as my Client Type "Windows Clients" but I
am unable to connect the laptop client to the server as I am
getting the error "Transmitter not found". Any ideas or
pointers are appreciated.

Start to troubleshoot from the top:
1) Verify that the Afaria Server service is started. You must accept
the license agreement to start the service. If not, restart the VM and
accept the license agreement.

2) Enter the direct IP address of the Server in the Afaria Client on the
laptop. You can do that by editing the transmitter properties in the
Afaria client. By default it may be configured to use the Trial VM
Machine name - and that may not be successfully resolved by the network.

3) The Afaria Trial VM must have a network IP address that is
"reachable" from the laptop. Trying pinging the VM from the laptop and
visa versa to see if they can "see" each other on the network. Make
sure the host machine for the Afaria Trial VM does not have a firewall
or other process that is blocking network traffic to the VM.

4) As a test you can install the Afaria client on the host machine to
test if it can connect to the Afaria Trial VM. If not, Open the Afaria
client Viewer that is installed on the VM and test to see if it can
connect to the Server. If yes, then something is blocking the the
communication on the host machine.
