Hi,

after installation of WorkSpace and starting it, several
messages appear saying for example: "The Sybase WorkSpace
feature SWS_ORCH (Process Orchestration) isn't licensed and
is associated with Eclipse features .....
Would you like Sybase WorkSpace to disable the Eclipse
features now?"

This is very strange since I do have a valid license stored
in subdirectory Sysam-2.0\Licenses.

Yesterday I clicked on Yes by mistake (disabling Eclipse
feature) and main functions of WorkSpace did not work
anymore correctly (e.g. I could not open any editor within
Enterprise Explorer saying that Eclipse features are not
available), so that I reinstalled whole WorkSpace.

Is this behavior correct?
Is there another possibility apart from reinstalling
WorkSpace after clicking 'Yes' by mistake to the above
MessageBox to make WorkSpace work again?

Thx and best regards
Andreas

Addendum:

Still after reinstallation of WorkSpace I am not able to
open e.g. a Database Development Editor. Doubleclick as well
as a right click on e.g. a table name within Enterprise
Explorer shows no reaction from WorkSpace.

What to do?

Thx and best regards

Andreas,

Sorry to hear about the trouble.

Do you have valid license for SWS_ORCH? You can check your licenses and
associated expiration information in Preferences|Sybase|Licenses page.

To get WorkSpace back to normal, you may want to try this. Note that at the
end, the WorkSpace will be restored to the original settings and hopefully
that is not going to cause problems.

Open command prompt window and then go to %WORKSPACE%\Eclipse directory.
Start SybaseWorkSpace.bat with -clean option
C:\sybase\workspace> SybaseWorkSpace.bat -clean

Check if the editor opens properly. Now if that does not work, I suggest a
brute force manual method.

Go to %WORKSPACE\Eclipse directory. Make a copy of "configuration" folder
before you proceed. Now go to "configuration" folder and delete everything
except config.ini file. Make sure you remove ".settings" folder as well.

Now restart WorkSpace with -clean option. You would be prompted to enter
your local workspace. For testing, point to a new workspace. See if things
are back to normal. If so, you can switch to your previous workspace
(File|Switch WorkSpace menu) and should have the WorkSpace projects back.

If for some reason the above does not work and you have to go back to your
old configuration, rename the new "configuration" folder and reinstate the
"copy" of configuration folder. Restart WorkSpace with -clean option.

Hope it works.

Regards,
Samir

Hi Samir,

thanks a lot for your detailed suggestions. I have tried
them in the order you mentioned below, but that doesn't help
at all. It is still the same or no reaction respectively in
WorkSpace. The expected Table Schema Editor for example does
not open, no matter what I try.

Attached please find the Message Boxes I receive on starting
up WorkSpace as well as my license information and some
error messages I get when clicking through
Preferences/Sybase. There are a lot more of these messages
and I copied only some of them.

Futhermore please find a screen copy of the product
configuration page where it seems that some features are not
installed properly? I tried to update these features but
this leads to some more error messages.

Thanks for your help and best regards
Andreas

Andreas,

No problem. Basically those instructions help to reset Eclipse configuration since you mentioned disabling some "features" by mistake. Those steps would have restored your configuration back to original state at the time of install.

Anyway, this looks like a license issue. Your license screenshot shows that you have Designer Studio Enterprise license which is for Enterprise Modeling component. However, that license is not valid for using Database Development features and tools (SQL editor, schema editor, etc.).

What license file does it show on "License Files" tab of the same page? You may want to check on that license file and get a license file that has a valid license for the Database Development component (SWS_DATA).

Thanks for sending those screenshots.

Regards,
Samir

Hi Samir,

thanks again for your prompt reply. I was told that this
license file should be valid for all tools within WorkSpace
and that was true until Monday, Mar 31st.
Now I am wondering since PowerDesigner integrated in
WorkSpace doesn't work too (can't open a .PDM file) though
license seems to be valid up to Apr 10th.

But I will try to receive a new license file.
Thanks for your patience and best regards
Andreas
