PB 11.1 Microsoft SQL Server Native Client
Curious if anyone else has run into this:

1) PB seems to be automagically setting the identity=Yes value in some
datawindows. I removed the setting within edit source for the datawindow
(deleted identity=yes) and this did remove the setting in the datawindow (as I
would expect) for all but 6 datawindows. Those datawindow I had to go into it
to the update properties and remove it. My application does not use identity
anywhere, so it is extremely unlikely that 12 datawindows had accidentally had
this set on.

2) The reason I was doing this, and found the datawindows with identity on, is
that when running SNC a dw.update() statement that causes an insert to occur
would crash my application. SQL profiler showed the last statement on the
database to be the select @@identity. The PBDEBUG trace showed the last PB
statement to be the dw.update(). Changing from SNC to OLEDB (using SNC within
OLEDB) would not crash the application, so it is specific to SNC.

PB doesn't set that by default, but if you have an extended attribute
defined as identity for a certain column name then create a new DW with that
column name it will be setup with the extended attribute values. Maybe
that's how your DW's got the identity set.

If you can document that it happens with SNC but not with other drivers
and/or databases then that certainly narrows it down to the SNC driver. I
suggest notifying tech support.

John

I will send up a bug report.
