Hi,

in WS when we execute a serie of commands (with 'begin tran'
and 'rollback' and 'commit') by selecting and executing them
all, this works fine.

However, if we execute these commands line per line, we
notice that the 'rollback' does not work any more. It seems
that after each "execute selected text" a commit is
executed, which is not a behaviour we would expect...

Am i right here?

greetz
Pieter

Hi, Pieter:

When those commands are executed line per line, it means those commands are
executed in the separate connection sessions. So the commands (with 'begin
tran', 'rollback' and 'commit') should be selected and executed together.

Correct.

In the database properties sheet, the 'Autocommit' value is checked by
default.

eek, missed thread response, sry about that.

in a database connection, click on properties
you get a prop sheet with items on the left like:
Common
Default Schema Filter
Sybase ASE Connection <- Select this one

There are two tabs on the right
Connection | Other Properties

In other properties, there should be values already created for:
CHAINED = OFF

Add this one:
autocommit=false

JConnect has a nasty habit of ignoring this setting, so it still might not
meet your need, but give it a try. (there was a bug opened for JCon 5.x?
for ignoring this)

hth,
jeff

Hi jeff,

i'm sorry for the late reaction (my holiday is now behind
me). The properties you describe (chained and autocommit)
are not default added, so i will add them and test this !!

Thx
Pieter
