Hi,

I have an application with 3 datawindows and a composite
dw that I use to print all 3 dw on the same page.
I get the 1 page that I wanted and 4 blank pages.
Anybody with a tip or two will be greatly appreciated.

Two major possibilities:
Stuff falling off the right edge. It doesn't have to be visible to count.
Printer (spooler?) set to put a blank page between jobs. I think this lame
option is a relic of continuous forms.

You probably have an object hiding off to the right in one of your 4
datawindow objects. It could even be hiding off the bottom of one of the
band objects.

eg, you create a new tabular datawindow with heaps of columns. You move
all the column objects around, and set the height of the header band to
zero, but you missed a text object hiding way off to the right.

I've been working with similar problem(s) and received a couple of
suggestions...

1. Turn on borders for all objects
2. Set the background color of objects to something different than
the page background. Alternately, if the objects are white, say, make
the background of the detail area(s) non-white.

In either case you MAY see some artifacting on the 'blank' pages that
will lead you to the offender.

basically, SOMETHING is going over the print-area of the target
printer, causing ejection of a page.

Every other page is blank means something is to far to the right.
Page below only means something is touching the bottom margin, even if
you don't see text.

Your problem appears to be both, but then I'm not sure about a 4th
blank page.

HTH,

Steve

This is a problem that I too have had many times. As others have said
it's likely an issue of something hanging off the right edge or bottom
of your DW.

Look for the items in both your individual DWs and the composite. Also
try setting the report controls in your composite DW to not use any
auto-sizing.

If all the above fails, remove one DW at a time from your composite
until you find the offender. I have in the past spent more time hunting
down the cause of this problem than it would take to re-create the DW,
so keep that in mind before you spend days fixing a DW that would be
re-built in a fraction of that time.

Best of luck, and I feel your pain
