pictures as blob in the database. now i need to have a
report that displays the pictures of guys stored in the
database for each row. how can i do this using Picture
object in a regular datawindow. if this is not possible is
there any other alternative.

Thanks Jim

Hi:

I tried using the InkPicture control. I am using sybase
ASE 12.5 and I have a table called ink_test, with id number,
image1 image, image2 image column i placed the inkpicture
control on the datawindow.

properties for this ink control are:
1.Key clause d=:id
2.Table pic_test
3.Col for Ink Data = img_Imag (blob)
4.Col for Image = img_Imag_2 (blob)

unfortunately the picture is not showing up!!!!
The data in the table contains image, and this is proven by
just populating the image on a picture on the window by
using setpicture. Correct me if i am wrong, using this
technique of displaying image in inkpicture control, i do
not have to do any setpicture or data=blob(like in OLE)
right?.

Am i missing something or is there any change required for
my database settings/profile?

Thanks
Jim

Hi there,
Just saw your post, maybe you're still trying to find a solution ...
I have some a fair bit of experience working with Ink controls on
Sybase ASE.

1. There's a bug on PB10.5 using ASE :-( .
But, the good news - there's a workaround, and there's a fix.

a. Workaround - on PB10.5
The workaround is to set 'DelimitIdentifier='Yes' in the DB connection
(in the Syntax tab on the Database Profile, check the "Enclose Table
and Column Names in Quotes"). This translates to :

SQLCA.DBParm = "DelimitIdentifier='Yes'"

b. Upgrade to PB10.5.2 - bug was fixed, Ink pictures work with Sybase.

LOL

Mick

Hi:

Thank you Mick for your input. Yes, I had a solution to my
problem, i discovered the patch on 10.5.2 (build 77xx), the
department decided to go to PB 11 for better. I had still
build
(6602) on my machine and tried this parameter, yes the
photos showed, but the print out was uncertain. in one
printer it printed 1st & 3rd photo on another printer it
printed 1st & 2nd photo. LoL :). The final conclusion, the
dept does not want to take any chances, so go to PB 11.
Thanks for your input though.
