Hello,

During development, PB 10.5 using this for the .ini:

[devB]
DBMS=OLE DB
Database=PDAT
UserId=
DatabasePassword =
LogId=
LogPassword=
ServerName=A70TTBDBS16
DbParm="PROVIDER='SQLOLEDB',DATASOURCE='A70TTBDBS16',PROVIDERSTRING='database=pdat'
,INTEGRATEDSECURITY='SSPI'"
dbstatus=Development PDAT PT B

the retrieval works fine on a datawindow but when the code
is compiled the retrieval does not work. There is a first
update then the retrieval happens. There are two retrieval
arguments and when debugging the values are being passed
successful.

Is there a glitch with 10.5 on retrieval immediately
following an update.

Thanks,

LaChandra...

Are you sure the datawindow is being included in the build? Either
compile using PBD or include the datawindow in your PBR resource file.
Nine times out of ten, this is the cause for the behavior you are seeing.

If that is the case, you would not see the static parts (title, etc.)
IsValid (dw_foo.datawindow.object) is a useful test if you are assigning the
dataobject dynamically.

Hello,

I have both of the the methods of creating .pbds or the
resource file but no luck. When trying to use the IsValid
option, PowerBuilder doesnt like the syntax i.e. ( IF
IsValid(tab_corr_control.tabpage_corr_build.dw_corr_build.dataobject)
= FALSE THEN)

Thanks for any help...

IsValid(tab_corr_control.tabpage_corr_build.dw_corr_build.datawindow.object,
not dataobject

Are you seeing any of the datawindow titles/headers?

Are you sure you created a PBD for the PBL that contains the DW and it is
included in the deployment?

Is the dataobject connected to the DW at design time or assigned at run
time?

What did the CONNECT return?

What did the SetTransObject() return?

What did the Retrieve() return?

Yes, the datawindow titles/headers are visible.
Yes, created a PBD with the datawindow object; actually did
a full build.
The datawindow object is assigned dynamically through the
code. I can see it during development and we do this quite
often.

I will debug the last 3 statements and le t you know.

Thanks,

LaChandra...

Hello,

Well, the final solution; migrated to PB 11.2 and everything
worked fine; however one issue was after the save the
variable was not being captured for new records. This code
was cloned from OB 10.5 PFC architecture which had to be
stripped to work in another application. The save in PFC was
the issue. PB didnt know what id to use. Aftre the save,
performed a SELECT MAX() on the identity column to ensure
the second datawindow could get retrieved.

Again, thanks for your help.
