Hi all:

I have to following situation:

App created with C4W40, 16 bits, using ADS 8.1 over TCP, Client Timeout 240.

When running app, connection is established, app running well.

Suppose there is some network failure: LAN connection goes down for 15 secs,
and then comes back. IP remains the same.

After that, app freezes, cannot open any tables, and it seems the connection
is cleaned (watching at ARC, user seems to be still connected, but all
tables in use are closed).

How can I prevent ADS from closing connection?

TIA, Jan

Are you talking about Clarion 4? That is 10 years old!

If you are using Clarion, that is a defect in V4, V5 and V6 (haven't V7
yet). No matter what file driver you use, once you lost the connection
to an open file, the app will freeze.

Try to add RETRY_ADS_CONNECTS in ADS.INI as below:

[SETTINGS]
ADS_SERVER_TYPE=2
RETRY_ADS_CONNECTS=1

Hi Pascal:

Nop, C4W40 stands for Clip-4-Win 4.0 from John Skelton...

I believe there?s no way to use an ADS.INI with the C4W drivers.
Is there a way to include this params in the Registry on a Windows Server
2000-2003?

Tx for your help...

BR, Jan

ADS.ini is used by all ACE based client. It can be in the same directory
where ACE32.DLL is or in the c:\windows.
