I have a customer that used Fidelio (which uses a Sybase ASA
6.0 back end). I have the DB but need to get all the info
out of it (specifically the contact information for THEIR
customers). Fidelio has no export feature. Can I

a) export from v6 or from Fidelio
b) migrate/import the database into another product.

Thanks!!!

This is a question you should be asking the software vendor.
Connecting to the database with something other than the
vendor's software might be violating the terms of the
license agreement that you agreed to when you installed
the product.

Are you referring to Micros Fidelio or some other application?
Have you consulted the vendor to determine how to access the data?

It is very likely that the vendor has restricted direct access to the
database as it would contain proprietary information and intellectual
property that they would want protected.

You really need to discuss your options with Micros. They must offer
some option to export the data that your customer owns.

As for tools for migrating, the dbunload utility can unload the
data/schema from a database. You first have to have an user id and
password with dba authority so that you can connect to the database to
run the tool. Do you have access to the database as a DBA user?

Unfortunately, no.. I have a call into Fidelio/Microsof
support right now. their support isn't quite as quick as
Sybase :(
