Hello,

I would like to connect to a sybase sqlanywhere database
server 8.0 from a .NET c# code. I have read, that I need a
SQL Anywhere .NET Data Provider for that.
Unfortunately this Data Provider is not in the setup program
of sybase sqlanywhere database server 8.0 (just from version
10.0.x). Could anyone help me
with this problem? From where can I download the SQL
Anywhere .NET Data Provider for sybase sqlanywhere database
server 8.0, or I think
"iAnywhere.Data.SQLAnywhere.dll" would be enought too (for
sybase sqlanywhere database server 8.0).

Thanks a lot!
Janos

Janos,

The ADO.NET provider is included in v8. Which version and build are you
running? (dbsrv8 -v).

The .NET provider is named "iAnywhere.Data.AsaClient.dll" in v8 and can
be found in the \Win32 directory.

Cheers,

Halo!

thank you for the reply, I have solved the problem according
to this web page:
http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1019943
(I did not find "iAnywhere.Data.AsaClient.dll". that is
maybe because I use an istall file that comes with rational
testmanager and support java and not .NET. could you help me
finding the original sybase sqlanywhere database server 8.0
so that I get that file? i found sofar the version 1^und 11
but not 8 :( )

Unfortunatelly now I have another problem, that is more
difficult than the first:

I connect to the server with the OleDbConnection then I use
a OleDbDataAdapter and finally I close the OleDbConnection.
Then after this I have to open another connection to another
.db file. But it seems like the connection from the first
query wont close, because I read the same data as the first
time (the first and the sacond database has the same shema,
but different data). I have tryed nearly everything to close
the connection but nothing worked. My solution now is to
wate for the time-out of the connection (1,5 minuten) and
than make the second connection. So it work, but is not the
best solution.

Can you help me?

Thanks,
Janos
