I need to know how to get the database painter to
automatically add the table owner name to the update clause.
I solved this once before, so that when I updated the
datawindow syntax FROM clause with the table owner name, it
would automatically apply to the UPDATE clause as well.

Currently I have resorted to editing source for every
datawindow created to manually insert. Any help would be a
great time saver.

What you have currently is the preferred state. Ideally, you should
**never** have to specify the DBOwner in your SQL if you are logged on to
the DBMS with the proper ID that is linked to the table owner's Role. Hard
coding the DBOwner suggests to me that your DB is not set-up properly in
production - but development is correct. I would suggest that you talk to a
DBA about this.

In Oracle this is handled with public synonyms - in development customer as
dev.customer, repeat for each environment.

For SQL Server, it is considered a best practice if objects are
owner-qualified (2000) or schema-qualified (2005+).

Schema qualified makes sense to me in a partitioned database design.

One way would be to set up your DB connection in Powerbuilder to connect as
someone other than the table owner.
