I have created a session manager channel to perform automatic provisioning
of a Windows Mobile client. The client is generated and published to the
deploymnt center. I then send a notification via an SMS message which
contains the link that kicks off the process.

All that works fine, the problem lies that upon the initial client
installation, the channel runs and Afaria performs the usual software
updates and then the client terminates without running the provisioning that
I created in the channel.

Is there a way to instruct the Afaria client to automatically restart after
the update ?

Thomaz

Thomaz,

Out of the box there is not a built in way to make this happen. This would
require a to have a soft-reset utility application that Afaria can execute.
In order to execute this utility you would need to modify the events within
the built-in $$ChannelSoftwareUpdates$$ Channel, which is not supported.
If you did modify the logic to execute a soft-reset, you can then automate
the connection upon restart by placing an HTML parameter file (.XEC) in the
Startup folder.

Afaria 6.0 Beta may contain a soft reset event, which will help make this
easier. Either way you would still need to modify the built in
$$ChannelSoftwareUpdates$$ channel.

The simplest solution would be to send a second SMS message at a later time
to complete the configuration.

Thanks,
Chris
