We have a prospect who wants to develop an online/offline auction system
for handhelds. The bulk of the data (such as lot numbers and
descriptions) would be downloaded and held on the handheld, but during
the actual bidding process, MBA would need to reach out and get the
latest price figure more frequently.
With MBA is there a way to have a timer that would let me sync one field
every 10 seconds or so? Would there be a better way of keeping just this
one figure up to date?

I do not believe AJAX is supported on the M-Business browser, which is
probably what you are thinking of. I know that in recent versions, support
was added to sync a single channel, however what kind of user experience you
will have going that route. I suspect you will keep seeing the M-Business
sync screen every time you sync.
I would recommend using UltraLite here. Sync that one particular table in the
background and it would be transparent to the end-user.
