What determines if the space above a control is empty for the slide up
property?

I have some static text in the header band of a report where I set the
visible property to false if the page number is not equal to 1 (using an
expression in the DW) and I want the other static text controls (column
headers) to slide up and use that space. I set all of the controls slide up
property to "slide directly above". Additionally I set the header band to
autosize height to reduce the size. This approach does not work.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Randy

I would suggest setting the height of the text field to zero as well.
Also make sure the initial size of the header band in smaller than the
minimum size you want. I don't think the autosize property will ever
shrink a band.

You are correct - maybe it should have been called "Autoexpand Height" <g>

i use a compute and use an expresssion to set the computes value to empty string or the display text
Using an expression for the text in the text object (empty string based criteria) *may* work, but i've never tried it.
