I received a question from a customer.
The customer is using a powerbuilder application with a lot of reports based
on datawindows.
Now the customer wonts customize the layout (graphic look) of the report.
What I really wont is a 4 steps solution.
1) The customer exports the datawindow (in SRD, PSR format or others)
2) The customer imports the datawindow, for example, in infomaker
3) The customer modify himself the layout editing the datawindow (using for
example infomaker)
4) The customer imports the new layout into the application.

I thought to make it
1) adding a new specific PBL dinamically at the top of the librarylist using
the function SETLIBARYLIST
2) importing the SRD file into this new specific PBL
3) using the same dataobject name, the imported datawindow will take
precedence
Unfortunately this solution don't works.

Any other idea to give a solution to the customer ?

In Cristal Report (only for example) is possibile export the layout
definition into a file, edit the file with a graphic toll and modify the
report-layout.

TIA
EnMe

Can you get the new syntax as a string and use dw_1.create(ls_syntax)?

What doesn't work? We do the same things by modifying/adding reports in
InfoMaker and then using AddToLibraryList(ls_pbllist) in the application
open event. It works like a charm.

Add the PBL to your library list. No need to compile it to a PBD.

that is correct, you can not import into a PBD since a PBD is compiled.
Just add the PBL to your library list.

Also, you don't have to save as PSR to get started in infomaker.
you can import the datawindow directly into a PBL that infomaker uses from your PB application.
you can even start infomaker up in your PB application with that report automatically loaded
