Hi All,

I have a requirement to convert Datawindow to HTML, I did
the same by writing code like
dw_control.saveas("path",htmltable!,true). This works fine
with freeform and other formats except composite formats, is
there anyway by which I can get format as it displays on the
Datawindow.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Regards,

Ranjith T

Ranjith;

Not in HTML format - but you can in PDF. The composite is composed on
multiple DW buffers - each with its own HTML. The DWO renders the screen as
the sum of its child DW buffers. Unfortunately, there is no HTML equivalent
that I know of.

Dear Chris,

Thanks for your reply, I need to send content of this
datawindow as a body of a mail for which I need to convert
this as HTML so that it will be easy for me to send using
SMTP mail from backend. (I am using SQL Server 2005 as a
backend).

Is there any other workaround for this by which I can finish
this task.

Thanks for your help in Advance,

Regards,

Ranjith T

I believe the .NET DW has some feature to convert nested into HTML, but I'm
not 100% sure. It's not supported in HTML DW on its own.

I would build a template and merge XML into the document. I would not use
the DW to retrieve and generate the e-mail HTML.

DW retrieves and returns XML merge with template e-mail.

I do some e-mails with straight string manipulation.I have a file that is
HTML. It has tags in the e-mail |first name| |company| |price| etc. I then
open the html file, search and replace tags and send the e-mail. I do this
to process 5000 plus e-mails at a time. I even embed images into the e-mail.
I do this using a nice feature from Roland. This way the html looks great
whether or not the person downloads images, i.e., the images are in the
html.

Look at top wiz site for sample code.

What if you create a new grid DataObject with the same x number columns as
in your composite and copy the data over it, then SaveAs() to HTML?

Hi,

for a simple composit we create an HTML documents
with a DIV in it for each report object in the main
dataobject. The DIVs are sized and placed absolutely
according to the report objects. Then we get the HTML
syntax for every report object and paste it into the DIVs
body.
