We would like to access a website using the HTTPS protocol
on the M-Business Client (on a PDA), over a wireless GPRS
internet connection. Note that we are not synchronising
down the entire website, but are browsing, page-by-page -
actually downloading the next page when a link is tapped.

We have been able to access the website via an unencrypted
connection (i.e. the HTTP protocol). However, when we try
and access that website using an encrypted SSL connection on
the M-Business Client (again, on a PDA), we are presented
with an SSL error.

As I understand it, the M-Business Client channels all of
its traffic *through* the M-Business Anywhere Server. As
this is the case, the M-Business Anywhere Server itself has
to be reconfigured.

I was pointed to page 58 of the "Administrator Guide for
M-Business Anywhere Server" document, but it provides two
sets of instructions - one for enabling encryption via an
ECC certificate, the other via an RSA certificate.

I'm not clear on which type of certificate we would need.
Can anyone help?

I've acquired an ECC certificate (which has been signed by
iAnywhere), and i've followed the instructions in the
document mentioned in the previous post. Theoretically, the
M-Business Client should now be able to access any SSL
encrypted website.

However, whenever I try and access the website in question,
I am presented with a security error - "The server vending
<<URL>> presented a bad SSL certificate".

Note that the website I am trying to access is providing
HTTPS access via a self-signed certificate. Could that be
the reason why the M-Business Client is refusing to display
the website?

I would test this by trying to access another SSL encrypted
website (one which has a certificate signed by a certificate
authority), but the server running the M-Business Anywhere
Server software does not have access to the internet, or
anywhere else that could serves an SSL encrypted website.

So, to reiterate, is the security error occurring because
the web server is using a self-signed SSL certificate? If
so, is there a way to add myself to the list of trusted
certificate issuing authorities used by the M-Business
Anywhere Server?
