ViewletCam is one that I am interested in since it seems to be middle of the road
in terms of cost/functionality:
http://www.qarbon.com/presentation-software/vc/

Camtasia is about twice the cost

Adobe Captivate is more than 4x the cost.

Bruce Armstrong has suggested:
http://www.hyperionics.com/hc/ based on cost

Chris Pollach uses:
ScreenRecorder from RiverPast software.
http://www.riverpast.com/en/prod/screenrecorder

And Roland Smith lists a freeware flash recorder:
http://www.debugmode.com/wink/

FWIW, I tried Wink before I settled on HyperCam.

However, the company I work for is evaluating Captivate. I'll let
know what we come up with if you're interested.

I would be interested to know what features that provides for the cost.

I am also looking at ScreenRecorder (pro) as recommended by Chris.

From some of the marketing materials, it seems that avi files sometimes have problmes with sync with the voice overs?
Mostly on full screen?

Captivate 3 SUCKS!

- It can import PPT presentations directly, but not animations, so you can't
do "build" slides.
- It can do live recording capture, but the audio starts to lag behind the
video at about 6 minutes in, and you have to do a lot of manual editing of
the audio tracks (or do several 6 minute segments and stitch them together).
- It can only generate SWF files (not AVI or MPEG).

Not worth the price, IMO.

I've used Camtasia with success.
The only roadblock I've run into is that it offers only one
audio track overlay in addition to the audio track that's
embedded in the captured video.

Adobe Premier Pro is $100 more than the list price of
Captivate and will give you elbow room to spare in the future.
