Simply want to view tables in SQL Anywhere. Trying to use Access or Excel
to link data gives the "Integrated logins are not permitted" error. I don't
understand why as the ODBC configuration is set to "Supply Username and
Password".

Is this my fix?:
The LOGIN_MODE database option is set to STANDARD, and you
attempted an integrated login. Change the option setting or supply an
explicit user ID.

If so, how do change this database option? Also, are there any issues I
need to be aware of?

I really appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thank you.

Michael

You have not mentioned what version of SQL Anywhere you are using?

To get Integrated Logins working, you need to enable it in the database.
The 11.0.0 docs has a good section on how to do this - start here:

The V8 ODBC driver/setup had an integrated checkbox.
If checked, you'll get that error.

Michael,

Did you enter user name and password in the ODBC configuration dialog for
this data source? Or did you supply them when connecting?
If you could state the version of SQL Anywhere that you are using, it
would be more easy to help.

I have not entered a username & password anywhere. Nor is
there a username & password in the ODBC Administrator for
this Data Source.

That seems to be the problem. SQL Anywhere does not allow a connect
without a valid user id and password, either in the ODBC source, or at
connect, or implicitely using integrated login (i. e. if Windows users are
mapped to database users within your database, and SQL Anywhere delegates
user authentication to Windows).

Probably just the error message was a bit misleading, as SQL Anywhere
tried to be clever, and as you did not provide a user name and password,
assumed you wanted to use integrated login which then failed.

My suggestion would be to just enter user name and password in the
connection dialog, or if security is not an issue, in the ODBC source
configuration.

By the way: The default SQL Anywhere user name is dba, and the default
password for this user is sql.

Frank
