Why am I getting -ec error when used on dbsrv9.exe even
after putting all the EBF. The outcome was same with -ec
ECC, RSA even using the straight examples given on
documentation and sample crt files. I have licensed ECC &
FIPS software installed.

Thank you for the reply:

Error in command near "ec"
--------------------------
Command lines (or cfg file)
-x tcpip
-n MYASASERVER
C:\MYASADB9\DB9\MYDB9.DB -n MYDB9
-ec ecc_tls(certificate=myTest9.crt;
certificate_password=temp)
-o C:\MYASADB9\MYDB9\server.log
-os 100
-m
--------------------------------------------
Even if I use the following line it is same
-ec ecc_tls(certificate=sample.crt;
certificate_password=tJ1#m6+W)

if I remove the -ec line everything starts fine.
-------------------------------------------------
Here is my versions:
9.0.2.3746
I can reproduce the error with ECC or RSA using example
lines given on the documentaion using the same default files
came with the product.

likely tied to something else on the cmdline.

As to your -ec option below that should be

2nd times the charm ...

As to your -ec option below that should be

-ec tls(tls_type=ecc;certificate=myTest9.crt;certificate_password=temp)

I will try that.
So what the manual says as:
dbsrv9 -ec ecc_tls(certificate=sample.crt;
certificate_password=tJ1#m6+W) -x tcpip asademo.db

is wrong! that is interesting!

Rajive,

The documentation is correct in both its syntax and its examples:
http://www.ianywhere.com/developer/product_manuals/sqlanywhere/0902/en/html/dbdaen9/00000162.htm

I've attached a zip file with a text file and a batch file - simply
extracting the files to a directory and running "runme.bat" should:

1. Generate ECC certificates using gencert
2. Start a version 9 database server with ECC TLS

This runs fine for me on my system - what do you see on yours?

Also, is this a full SQL Anywhere install you're testing on, or is this
your own deployment?

Regards,

This is a new install and we got it yesterday from our SPDC.
This is what I did I put all the key words on uppercase as
shown on documentation. Until now I was using lowercase key
words (ex: certificate=, ecc_tls( etc).

That solved the problem. I have experienced this with SQL
Anywhere 10 as well.

Thank you for your time and Help.

the dbsrv9.exe does not like even simple encryption.

-ec simple
will give the same error.

-ec simple is working. It was my mistakes.
But -ec ECC or RSA does not work even we use the lines as
given on the documentation with files came with software.

Find where your dbsrv9.exe is located, and see if there are files there
called dbecc9.dll or dbrsa9.dll. If not, you do not have the ECC / RSA
software installed.
