I have a window with controls for users to enter/select
criteria. Then they can click the "Run" button to retrieve
data for the embedded datawindow using the criteria in the
window controls as parameters. If there is data retreived
the datawindow will become visible. After the user
prints/saves the data, they can close (hide) the datawindow
to enter different criteria in the controls to execute the
report again. Is there an event that is fired when a user
closes (hides) the datawindow? I would like to add some
coding to this event instead of having the user close the
window to trigger the code in the closequery event. This way
they will be able to keep the window open.
Thanks!

No such event. Why not just create a Reset button?
I must be missing something - how do they hide the DW? Button? Menu item?
In any case, you may want to refactor the CloseQuery code into a function or
even so you can call it from different places.

The datawindow is closed/hidden when the user clicks either
red X (close) in the top right corner of the datawindow or
click the drop down box in the top left hand corner of the
datawindow and then click close. We are using the client
version of PowerBuilder.

Yipes! Now I see why I have never used the title bar on a DW. I can't find
any event that fires, including clicked, losefocus, and other, when it is
hidden. I'd suggest the Reset button, and if you need a title on the DW a
static text works fine.

pbm_syscommand is what needs to be mapped and processed...
No reset buttons and you can use caption bar on a datawindow control

Hi Jerry;

Also, if you do not want the DC to close ...
On the SysCommand (61536):

Sorry, some urgent requests came up so I had to stop working
on this project. Thanks to everyone that replied. So,
Phil/Jerry, what event would I test this logic:
IF commandtype = 61536 THEN <do your thing>

Would this be in a window event or a datawindow event?
