Is there any options available to make datawindow querymode
not case sensitive? I was starting to dynamically add
'UPPER' to both sides of the generated sql after the query
criteria have been added but then thought maybe there is an
option to do this as part of the datawindow querymode itself
that I missed.

Thanks in advance!

No.
I put this in as an enhancement request in isug; so go vote for it.

I would not add the upper to the sql since it may prevent the dbms from using an index.

You can role your own in querymode:
check if UPPER is set on the datawindow column
if it is then change the text to upper and do a settext

How could querymode be case insensitive? The underlying database needs to
be case insensitive.

Yes, but in this case it is not, but we would like the
search window to return anything that matches no matter the
case.

For example, customer name search. It's not case sensitive
in the database (as the customer code would be) because of
how some customer's like their names printed on their
statements and invoices, etc, but if the customer's name is
entered as Jackson or JACK both should be returned when you
query on JACK for customer names (or at least have the
option to do so) rather than have to do 2 searches - one
upper and one lower.

Thanks both of you for your input. I went ahead and just
built the dynamic sql since there was no other option.
Works great.

ahhh, reading comprehension: Terry 1, mike 0

i thought you were talking about forcing the entry of query data as uppercase for case sensitive databases.
