Hi,
I have a datawindow (PB6.5) that's selecting from SQL Server
2000 using the native driver.
One of the fields in the select is a function call and PB
truncates the field after 255 characters. I've tried
exporting the datawindow and changing the column spec to
char(4000) but this hasn't worked. Does anyone have a work
around for this?

Regards
Sean

Hi Sean;

I believe that it is a restriction of the old MSS driver as this was the
limitation for Char/VarChar columns in SS 6.0. In SS2K (v7.0), 2005/8 you
can have a longer length - however Microsoft deprecated the NTDBLIB.dll
native driver (the one PB calls when you set the parameter DBMS="MSS"). Once
you advance to a newer SS connectivity mechanism like SNC, OLE-DB, etc -
then you can use the longer character columns. However, in order to do that
you will also have to migrate to a newer version of PB as well.

HTH
