Does a GetFullState() function get the info from a DW that
has nested DWs or it gets the blob state of only the main DW
& ignores the nested DWs?

It gets the blob state of EVERYTHING in the datawindow. Primary &
nested dws.

FYI, I've had problems with nested datawindows that contain a nested datawindows.
One level deep was ok, it was more than one level where I had a problem.

Hi AR;

It only works on the primary DWO. The only way I can get around it is to
have the child DW's in separate DataStores and use a Get/SetFullState on
these. Once the DS's are populated, I then copy their buffers to the Nested
or Composite DWO parent using the GetChild or DotNotation. A bit laborious -
but you can do it.

It would be nice to have these commands updated to fully encompass child
DWO's.

or at the very least have the documentation state the limits.

Chris, I've had it work with nested datawindows, but only one level deep, for printing.
I havent tried in PB 11 to see if it works any differently.

No change in PB 11.x or 11.5 AFAIK.

I'm with Wheeley on this one. GetFullState/SetFullState works fine with
nested datawindows. There was a bug back in the 8.0 days where it didn't
work that the 8.0.2 MR fixed. Are you saying you haven't tried it since
then, or that it's broken again?

I'll look into trying it again since I don't recall offhand if it was PB 11.1 that I last tried it with or not.
My experience is that it would not work with a nested datawindow that had a nested datawindow in it.
The nested was fine, but the nested nested did not show up.

I tried in PB11.2. It surely does NOT work. GetFullState &
SetFullState captures a snapshot of only the main DW & NOT
the nested DWs within the main DW.

Correct ... except for Drop Down DW's which are "child" DWO's but not
exactly the same as "nested" ones.

After experimenting more, found this on a Nested DW (dw_1 is
my main DW that has nested DWs):
Following sequence of steps works:
1)dw_1.Retrieve()
2)dw_1.GetFullState(lb)
3) dw_2.SetFullState(lb)
dw_2 displays data for all the nested DWs.

Following steps DOES NOT work on nested DW but works on
non-nested DW. IN the below case, only the main DW is copied
to dw_1 but not the nested DWs.:
1)dw_1.GetFullState(lb)
2)dw_2.SetFullState(lb)
3)dw_2.Settransobject(SQLCA)
4)dw_2.Retrieve()
5)dw_2.GetFullState(lb)
6)dw_1.SetFullState(lb)

I was using the above steps to spawn the time consuming
report retrieval in a separate thread. This was working
great until I tried spawning a nested DW in a separate
thread.
But now I think I found the steps to make the nested DWs to
work in a multi-thread mode.

Thnx for all your help & suggestions.
