When saving a datawindow to Excel, how do I remove the
'time' portion of a datetime field before it gets to Excel?
I've tried to create a computed field without the time, but
they are not saved to the Excel file.

Do you need the time in the column at all? Maybe a computed column where the
SQL strips the time?

I'm guessing this is not possible? I'm using PB10 and I
have Office 2007 installed.

Thanks,

To my knowledge, not possible. Saving to Excel exports the underlying
data only. Your data contains the time.

You might look at dw2xls. It's a frequently referenced tool for
exporting to Excel WYSIWYG. Googling for it will probably be best.

From the PB Help file:

"SaveAsFormattedText also saves computed fields allows you to customize
formats in the file"

In Oracle, you can use a TRUNC() to strip off the time, for example

select trunc( sysdate ) from dual; yields something like 03/20/2009.

Actually it's still a datetime with the time set to 00:00:0000 - I think the
internal storage is like PB, an integer # of ticks from 1/1/1900 or some
other epoch date.

'Maybe a computed column where the
SQL strips the time?'

This mean create a computed column in your datawindow SQL
(not the datawindow), using database functions, to strip the
time.
It would probably be a 'string' column.
If you needed to reformat it in Excel, you could use ole
automation.
