Hello...

Using Powerbuilder 7:

I have a Window which contains a Data Window control. The Data Window
control has two relevant columns: column_a and column_b.

At design time, column_b has Edit on Style Type.

On runtime, if column_a has a certain specific value, I would like column_b
to have the Style Type changed to a DropDownDW using dw_Source as
DataWindow, c_display as Display Column, c_Store as Data Column, Always Show
Arrow Selected and VScrollBar Selected... If column_a has any other value, I
want column_b back to Edit as Style Type.

Is this possible? How is the syntax to get it?

Thanks.!

The simple solution would be to have two column objects on the
datawindow for column_b, both with the same size and same x and y
values. One can be a drop down and the other a text box. You can then
add an expression to the visible property of each column object to make
it visible at the right time.

There isn't a single Style property - you need to set all the appropriate
properties for the one your want (dddw.* or edit.*) and clear the ones for
the style you don't want anymore.
The dddw properties do not allow expressions (at least the Help doesn't say
they do) so if you want this feature on a row-by-row basis you would use the
old workaround - two copies of the column, one with each style, same size
and position, opposite Visible expressions.

Well Brad, Jerry... I was afraid that was going to be the answer... :)

I'll start working on it.

Thanks..!

I have done it Brad's way myself. It is easy and requires no coding, just dw
expressions.
