In reading a post dated 8/21/08 from Bay Software Solutions, it seems it is
possible to boost the access speed of ADS by using TCP instead of UDP. I
guess this sounds like a real newbie question, but how do you make his
change?

Thanks,
Randall H. Carpenter

Hi Randall,

The easiest way to use TCP/IP in your application is with the ads.ini file.
Add the following line to your ads.ini file,
http://devzone.advantagedatabase.com/dz/webhelp/advantage9.1/advantage_concepts/advantage_development_notes/ads_ini_file_support.htm

USE_TCP_IP = 1

This will change the comm layer to use TCP/IP over UDP/IP.

Best Regards,

Thanks, Lance. I'll try that.

Lance,

Into which section should I put this line? Should it go in a [SETTINGS]
section or should it be in the section specific to the database I log into
using AIS?

Thanks,
Randall H. Carpenter

It needs to go into the [SETTINGS] section.
