Do you need to use the pipeline object? It is really not the intended
mechanism for upgrading.

You can run both engines at the same time. Perhaps you have not setup
your connection information correctly. Make sure the you specify an
engine name for each connection that matches the *unique* engine name of
the ASA7 engine and SA11 engine.

If you are autostarting, make sure that you specify the "Server Name"
connection parameter (can be done in the ODBC DSN if used). The server
names *must* be unique for each engine instance.

I do not have SQLAnywhere 7 loaded anywhere but have you considered using the
SQLAnywhere UNLOAD (IF AVAILABLE) and LOAD (SQLAnywhere 11) commands
assuming you do not have to reformat the data and this is a straight conversion. I have moved data from 9 to 10 to 11 that way.
I also use it as a backup process as I have a SQL script that unloads deletes and rebuilds and loads the database.

I have not tried it but it appears materialized views in SQL Anywhere 11 can be used to reformat data in an existing table that can then
be unloaded using UNLOAD and reloaded into a new table using LOAD avoiding pipeline. OR you could use unload and reload to get
SQLAnywhere 11 then pipeline from one SQLAnywhere 11 database to another to reformat your data.

Chris Keating's suggestion of using the recommended upgrade procedures
for version 7 databases to version 11 is the best option.
