Hi All,

I have an Item Table which stores picture of each item as a
blob. I want to generate a item list report that will
display picture for each item.

Looks like Selectblob is the only way to retrieve the
picture from the table. However, I don't know now how to
assign each picture in my datawindow report. Please help.
Thanks.

You need to

1) After the SelectBlob - write the picture from the Blob variable to a file
2) Assign the Picture file location in the DW object
- or -
use a column and issue a setitem for the file and path into the DW's
column
Note: you will need to set the "Display as Picture: property on the DW
column.

Thanks Chris! This works! I just need to figure out if it
will behave the same when I deploy this in Appeon.

Hi Chris,

Unfortunately, when I deployed it in Appeon, it didnt
display as pictures. What was displayed was the path. Do
you know if there are any other special handling needed for
Appeon or if this is supported? Thanks again.

Wow ... I would of thought that Appeon would have supported that feature by
now!

1) What version of Appeon are you using?
2) I would check with Appeon on this deficiency. If it works in a
Win32/Winform application then it should work in the JSP or ASP realm.
3) Why not just use PB 11.x's WebForm feature ... or is IIs out of the
question for you?

Depending on your version of PB you can try the InkPicture control. It is a
bit odd to set up: It is like a standalone control on the datawindow so
rather than using the DW it does its own fetch from the DB which has to be
configured. The picture goes in as the background and getting the retrieval
arguement right is a pain but once sorted it does do a good job.

Hi Clive,

Thanks for the response!

I tried using inkpicture and it worked as well as save to
file and setitem to a column.

My next problem though is they both dont work in Appeon.
