Hi All,

I have a requirement to use open client 12.5 to connect to
Sybase ASE 15 and just wanted to check whether anyone has
encountered any issues while working with above settings?

Thanks,
Lasanka

This should work fine.

The only issue is that the 12.5 client won't be able to use the new
datatypes (such as BIGINT, etc) that may be used on the ASE 15 server, but
even if these datatypes are used the client will still work (i.e. it will
still get the data, either as FLOAT or as NUMERIC data, for example)

Another caution is long identifiers (table/column names >30 chars)

...I always thought BIGINT was added in 12.5.1 but a quick check of
cstypes.h shows CS_LONG_TYPE - sorta the same maybe.....certainly none
of the Unsigned types are there....

Off-hand, OCS 12.5 is compatible with ASE 15 - before using any ASE 15
feature, I would check the compatibility with a quick program (i.e. use
isql from OCS 12.5).... some 15 features such as partitions, computed
cols, function-based indexes, etc. should be transparent to the client.
