Hello,

These parameters are most commonly used with Kerberos security....
Note: Kerberos session specific security mechanisms may also be specified. All options include
Kerberos network authentication, ‘-V’, are:
“-Vc” says “data confidentiality” requested, all data is encrypted
“-Vi” says “data integrity” - all data is crypto graphically signed
“-Vm” says “mutual authentication” - client makes the server prove its identity
“-Vr” says “data replay detection” - packets checked for replay attacks
“-Vq” says “data out-of-sequence detection” - packets checked for receipt order
“-Vo” says “data origin detection” - packets checked for data origin
You may select multiple options, “-Vcr” says data confidentiality and replay detection.

isql -V -R nstackASE -S NSTACKSUN
1> select @@authmech
2> go

------------------------------
kerberos

-Z [security mechanism] is equivalent to setting CS_SEC_MECHANISM:
http://infocenter.sybase.com/help/topic/com.sybase.infocenter.dc32840.1500/html/ctref/X31393.htm

In $SYBASE/config/objectid.dat the available security mechanisms are:
[secmech]
1.3.6.1.4.1.897.4.6.1 = dce
1.3.6.1.4.1.897.4.6.2 = nds
1.3.6.1.4.1.897.4.6.3 = NTLM
1.3.6.1.4.1.897.4.6.6 = csfkrb5

Regards,
Neal
