I installed Sybase workbench on my Windows XP box and when I
try to establish a connection to ASE server, it throws the
following error. It appears it can't ping the server.

Is there any setup that needs to be done before using the
tool. I added C:\sybase\WorkSpace\JDK1.5.0_15\bin &
C:\sybase\WorkSpace\JDK1.5.0_15\jre\bin directories to
environment variables (assuming it might be setting up
classpath) but that doesn't help.

Thank you
Yog

Hi, Yog:

When creating a connection profile, in the wizard page, you can press 'Test connection' to test the server first. If failed to connect, you can
check the host, port, username and password.

Thank you, the test connection fails. I am sure the
userid/pwd/server name are correct. For some reasons, the
tool can't find the server (ping fails).

Thank you

Hi, Yog:

Can you connect to server by isql or Sybase Central?

Hi Li,

Yes, I am able to connect using ISQL. I can also connect
using other development tools like SQL Station, ASEISQL.

Thank you
Yog
