Hi,

I've a strange problem with a datastore which is controlled by
a PFC like update service. All updateable datastores and
datawindows have to have UpdateKeyInplace=yes set to
work with this service. So I set the update properties in the
datawindow painter accordingly. Now, when I run this
application from the IDE all works fine. But when I deploy it to
the mobile device, for one datastore the setting changes to
UpdateKeyInplace=no. This causes the update to fail because
of the architecture of the update service. There is no such
modify statement in the whole application. I wonder how can
that happen?

Using PK 2.5.2 Build 1273
App runs on Windows Mobile 6
ASA 9.0.2. 3804

TIA

Hey Chris,

writing "PFC like" I meant it is kind of update service which
is implemented in the PFC. I'm sure you know that, registering
datawindows/datastores to a service which cycles through its
clients on update twice, first time issuing the delete operations,
second update and insert. Not really important.
The real problem is the datawindows/datastores need to have
UpdateKeyInplace=yes set for this service and so I edit the
update properties of all datawindows/datastores to be that way.
One of them insists of changing to UpdateKeyInplace=no on the
mobile device. I have no idea when and why that happens but
when I check it with ds.describe("datawindow.table.UpdateKeyInplace")
I get "no". I workarounded that using a modify statement but
was interested if someone has an idea what happens there.

Best regards

Is your DW query composed upon more than 1 table?
Do you somehow modify DataWindow.Table.Select programmatically?
... or some part of the update spec (DataWindow.Table.UpdateTable or
DataWindow.Table.UpdateWhere)

FWIW: I have this all done in my STD Foundation Classes for PK.
They are free ... http://sourceforge.net/projects/stdfndclass

Maybe you can have a look at my Update service and see if you can use it
instead.
