Hi,

I have a database which backup is about 210 Mb however the
backup from her transaction log is 540 Mb.

I don't understand why.

Any idea.

Mayhaps it has been a loooooooooo-ooooo-ooo-ong time
since the last transaction dump, and so therefore there
are a loooo-oo-ot of un-dumped transactions.

What are the dates of the two files? Depending on your
exact needs, you probably want a full dump at least once
every 24 hours and hourly transaction dumps in between.

Well, the dates of the two files are the same date. The
backup from the database is every 24 hours and the
transaction log is every 1 hour.

Make a one table database and put some rows in it. Very small backup,
right? (Most of the space will be for system tables.) Now do something
like

set @counter = 0

While (@counter < 1000000000)
update <table>
set <numeric_column> = <numeric_column) + 1,
<char_column> = substring (<char_column>, 100, 1) || left
(<char_column, 99)

set @counter = @counter + 1
end

Dump the log and you will see that it is probably bigger than the database
dump.

The database dump has "everything" but only "right now". The log dump has
"all changes" since the last xact dump.
