Using pb 11.5
When trying to open a window I get the error
Datawindow Error Item '' does not pass the validation test.

I get this error six times & then the window opens.
I did not write the code for this window, so I need an idea
of where to start looking.
There are 4 datawindows on that window.

Well, that's the message that you get if a user tries to blank out a numeric
column in a datawindow and the "Empty String is Null" setting is not set for
it. Offhand I'm not sure what would generate the message
programmatically -- maybe an Initial value of "Empty" for such a field?

Oh, I misunderstood, sorry. I've never heard of getting a validation error
like that in the IDE. The only thing I can think of is to check the Initial
Values and the Data defined for that datawindow, to see if there's a type
mismatch anywhere.

Hi Sharon;

Yes.. I have received that message a few times in various versions of
PB! :-)

It usually occurs when I am working with a RichText DW object. Just ignore
this as it has something to do with the way the Preview Pane is activated.
It will not hurt anything - but, it can be a little nuisance. If you want to
resolve the problem - you will probably have to look at the validation rules
on each of the 4 DW objects. One of those is firing and fails the validation
test (for what ever reason). It could be inserting a dummy row, shared data
in the buffer, etc.

HTH

Look for number columns on the datawindow that do not have the 'empty string
is null' setting (on the Edit tab).
