ASE 15.0.3 instjava error
I am aware of the following:
--
562093 When loading a jar file containing multiple classes,
message 10795, "The file '.class' contained in the jar does
not represent a valid Java class file." can be raised.
--
However:
I am getting this error when I am trying to load a jar file
that contains a single class file.

See attached file (sybaseJavaError.txt for command details
and product version information)

Am I doing this correctly?
If so is there a fix or a suggested work around?

Thank You
Andrew

Hello,

Did you set "enable pci=1" and install the new "sybpcidb" as documented here:
http://infocenter.sybase.com/help/topic/com.sybase.infocenter.dc35888.1503/html/installwin/CHDCECJD.htm
http://infocenter.sybase.com/help/topic/com.sybase.infocenter.dc31652.1503/html/java/BABEFBIG.htm

Does it work OK if you compile with Java 6 or later?
http://infocenter.sybase.com/help/topic/com.sybase.infocenter.dc31652.1503/html/java/BABBJDGA.htm

If the above are all OK, were there any errors in your ASE log file?

Were you able to install any other classes?

Regards,
Neal

Neil;

Thank you for you response.

I had been using the documentation for 15.0.2 for the
installation (I do read the manuals, I was just using the
wrong one (my fault), I guess I did not expect that a dot
dot release (a bug fix) would have such a major feature
implementation change, I am re-installing everything
(again).

The documentation indicates:

"If you are installing Adaptive Server 15.0.3 over an
existing Adaptive Server 15.0.x version then, and the Java
in the database feature is enabled, perform these steps:
.."

This is a NEW install, but the "sybpcidb database" is not
there after the installation. Should I perform the
instructions for an update of an existing installation even
though this is a NEW install?

Are you aware of any other 'update instructions' that I
should also perform when doing a new install?

Thanks again.

Andrew

Hello,

I don't think the sybpcidb is there for new installations because not everyone
is licensed for the Java in ASE feature (assuming it is still a licensable
feature).

Regards,
Neal
