Hi All,

I have a composite with a series of nests - the spec calls for column
header sorting in one of the child dwos

Seems like the DataWindowChild does not get clicks - The method
GetObjectAtPointer( )call via the child reference returns empty string

I also tried another approach by putting dwo buttons in the place of
texts for headers inside the nested dwo - but they don't get the clicked
event either

Question is how to get the clicked object inside a child dwo

TIA

Hi Yakov;

1) Unfortunately .. the GetChild ( ) method does not work for child DW's
within a nested DW type (only composite). :-(
2) Child DWO's with CB's do NOT fire the BC event on the parent DW's
control. :-(
3) GetObjectAtPointer ( ) will only help you for the parent DWO's
controls. :-(

Can you post a snap shot of your DW design? Maybe we can think of
something.

Is this a composite presentation style with child DWs,
or a DWO with nested reports?

Gents,

Well it doesn't make a difference whether the child dwo ( a tabular ) is
placed as a report object in another tabular or as a report object in a
composite. In both cases - buttons objects in the child dwo are not
clickable nor is it possible to GetObjectAtPointer in the child dwo.

I could fake my way around it by putting a control ( ddlb or rb's) on
the window from which the that user could set the sort sequence and then
write some PS code to do the sort - but column header sorting is the
intuitive compact way to go.

I think the latter approach is your only way around this IMHO.

No Pain .. No Gain. :-(
