using pb 10 & oracle 10g

if I use "select trunc(date_field)"
Powerbuilder still puts a datetime field in the column
specification. Anyway for Powerbuilder to put date not
datetime in the column specification?

Nope. Oracle "date" always maps to PB "datetime" even if you chose to lose
the time portion. You would need to use GetItemDateTime and then use Date()
to cast into a Date variable.

Because an Oracle date is truly a datetime field. Trunc() just sets the
time portion to 00:00, but doesn't alter the fact it is still a datetime.
