Is there a way i could download ASE dev edition (any 15
version or even 12.5.x would do) for Sun Solaris x86?
I googled and got the sybase link for ASE1503 but it was for
Sparc not x86.

Sorry, I think the only platforms available in the Dev edition are:
Windows x86, Linux x86, Linux x86-64 bit, and Sun Solaris 64-bit.

Unlike Oracle, Sybase don't want you to test / try their software :-(

FYI: I've used Sybase 15.0.3 x64 on Solaris 10 x64 and it really works
well, fast, stable, low cost, just works.

Solaris values backward compatibility more than other operating systems,
which makes OS upgrades easy.

As an OS for databases, probably nothing better.
Highly recommended.

They only have developer editions available for ASE 15.

The following are supported for ASE 15:

Solaris Sparc (32-bit)
Solaris Sparc (64-bit)
Solaris x86 (64-bit) [aka Solaris x64]

The following are *NOT* supported for ASE 15:

Solaris x86 (32-bit)
