Sybase anounced the end of engineering support for ASE
Replicator (http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1065500).

Any ideas on how to address basic replication between to ASE
servers after ASE Replicator dies?

Thanks for any ideas.

Juan

In addition to what Mark replied, I see no reason why the current version of
RPL won't keep working with the next version of ASE. I.e. copy the RPL-12_5
directory to your ASE installation that doesn't have RPL anymore, and my
guess is that it would still work. That may not remain the case forever, but
I'd imagine it is likely to work for some time longer at least.

HTH,

Rob V.

Just the normal ideas ...

- 'upgrade' to Sybase's Replication Server (your local Sybase sales rep will be ecstatic to assist you)

- do not upgrade to later ASE versions that do not include the Replicator product (Replicator will continue to work in
those versions of ASE that contain the Replicator codeline)

- design/build your own code to emulate the Replicator codeline

- look for a 3rd party solution (I have no idea if such a solution exists)

- replace ASE with another RDBMS that has a 'cheap' replication capability (obviously the migration to another RDBMS
probably won't be 'cheap')
