When creating a datawindow from a Stored Procedure, the
datawindow will automatically build the column list for you.
How does it know how to do this? Is there any code I can
look at to see how this is done?

It invokes the procedure with NULL or default values for all the arguments,
and then introspects the result set that comes back, looking for column
names, position, and data type. It's proprietary to the patented datawindow
engine, so I doubt you'll get any peek inside the code...
