Hi,

probably a silly question, but: we have just converted to 11.5, and I am
making use of that lovely drop-down calendar featuer for the DATE fields.
However, in order to select that, I have to put that the field Style Type is
EditMask. Previously, I avoided doing this because if EditMask was set, it
forced 00/00/0000 into all date fields, which annoyed some users (and me),
so I just used to have DATE fields as Edit style type.

I can see that under the Style Type, I have to specify Mask, whcih I've
tried all of them. [date] mask will pre-fill in 00/00/0000, and if I try to
delete [date] from the mask and save the datawindow, it still forces it in.
Is it possible to have Style Type "EditMask" for the DATE fields so that I
can use the drop-down calendar, but not to have 00/00/0000 forced in all of
those fields?

Cheers

In the meantime, you can alleviate the problem somewhat by setting the
Format to an expression like the following:

if(IsNull( thecolumnname), "","m/d/yyyy")

and checking the Use Format box -- that way the 00/00/0000 will appear only
when the column has focus.
