Hi,

I've noticed that SQL anywhere 11 is able to open a databse
built on Anywher Version 10. That's something new, because
Anywhere 10, could not open a database built on Anywhere 8.
Is there a reason why we should still rebuild (unload and
reload) the database from version 10 to 11?(Assuming, we are
running SQL anywhere 11) Would it be more stable?

Thanks
Aron

The SQL Anywhere database server was completely redesigned in version 10. This required file format
changes to enable new feature support. SQL Anywhere backward compatibility is as follows:

SQL Anywhere 9.0.x database server can run a database created with software all the way back to 5.5.0x.

SQL Anywhere 11.0.x can support both SQL Anywhere 11.0.x and 10.0.x databases. All version 9.0.x
databases and older need to be rebuilt to be run on SQL Anywhere 10.0.x or 11.0.x.

This is required to take advantage of some new features in version 11.
You can also use the dbupgrad utility:
