Hello everyone,

We bought SQL Anywhere studio 9,0,1 and have been running this
successfully in an windows environment on a 32 bit server.

Current installed version today is 9,0,2,3137 for both Adaptive Server
Anywhere 9 and mobilink.

Our old server has reached itÂ’s end of life so we bought an x64 server
as it says on the package that it support 64bit.

What we didnÂ’t know was that it supported ia64 and not x64 as is the
most common today.

9.0.2 should be alright to run on a x64 windows2003 environment.

Unfortunately we did not buy our copy from Sybase directly, instead we
bought the software from a local company in Sweden, which do not exist
anymore.

So we do not exists in Sybase inc customer database, and therefore I'm
not able to download fresh copy of Sybase 9,0,2. As the customer
support can not find us in their register. No account.

So I contacted sales in Sweden, they told me to contact Sybase in Norway
and after almost a week of shuffling between the sales organization
and support they told me to contact Sybase in germeny, so I did.

They told me to download a copy of the development Edition at

http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1055872

So I did and the installation process did not complain.

Thought, the installation itself only contains Sybase central, no
plugins for mobilink or Adaptive Server Anywhere.

The folder c:\Program Files (x86)\Sybase\SQL Anywhere 9 is totally empty?

It seems to missing a lot of files.

From the beginning Sybase support told me to install a ordinary 32 bit
and upgrade that one. That did not succeed and the error message was
something about couldnÂ’t find a valid or correct version. Can this be
messing up my installation, I did uninstall everything before I
installed the version they recommended.

I just want a version working on the x64 windows 2003.

We are going to upgrade to asa 11 but I need to verify the current
version on the new machine first.

So I need help, as IÂ’m getting a bit desperate.

Regards

/Andreas

What installation key did you use, your old one or a new developer
edition key?

You said you checked this folder: c:\Program Files (x86)\Sybase\SQL
Anywhere 9

But if you were installing the 64 bit version I would expect it to be
located here:
c:\Program Files\Sybase\SQL Anywhere 9 as oppossed to the 32 bit
Program Files folder you mentioned.

Hello Kory,

Thank you for your quick reply.

I used my old one as the sales department told me to use that one.

You are correct, the files are there.

Thought I need to be able to register the mobilink and the database it self.

If I choose the Tools | plug-ins | register | I can not choose either
the mobilink or the adaptive server anywhere?

Should I use the development license key. Will it be ok to run that in a
deployment environment? Any restictions, number of cpu:s? size of
database file? Mobilink?
Regards
/Andreas

Andreas,

The one catch with Sybase Central and the tools on a 64 bit OS is that
they are actually still 32 bit. They thus require that a 32 bit JRE be
installed for them to work.

I would stick with your key, the development edition is fully functional
, it displays a nag screen though. I don't think installing using that
key would make a difference.

Thanks
