I install SA 11 Dev Edition on my HP Vista Business laptop.
However, the engine fails at startup and hang the system,
shooting cpu usage to 100%. This always occur when starting
tcp/ip. Snapshot of the log section as follows:

Trying to start SharedMemory link ...
SharedMemory link started successfully
Trying to start TCPIP link ...
Starting on port 2638

This is where it stop. How do I resolve this?
Regards

That's an unusual symptom... SA 11 works on Vista Ultimate, no
problems, so it's not an issue with the OS.

It's the weekend now, and this is a volunteer forum (NOT the official
tech support site), so you might not get much response.

How did you start the engine? Please show us the exact command line,
or if it was ODBC auto-started, show us the DSN (use regedit).

Try specifying the -x tcpip command line option to stop it from trying
to start other protocols in addition to tcpip.

Try downloading the latest EBF for V11 from my.sybase.com.

Try using the 64-bit engine if it got installed... it is in the BIN64
folder.

Can you try disabling the IPv6 layer?

dbsrv11 -n test_case -x tcpip(IPv6=NO)
