Hi

When i go into services.msc and try to start the
Adaptive service I get a message now.
"The Adaptive Server Anywhere - mtrs8 service on Local
Computer Started and then stopped. Some services stop
automatically if they have no work to do, for example the
Performance Logs and Alerts services."

Thanks for your help.

Hi Aron,

Could you add the "-z" parameter to the service as well? This will give
us all of the server options the server is starting with. From the log,
there's 21 seconds where the server does appear to be running, but then
stops for a particular reason afterwards (not a crash).

Also, check to see what is stored underneath the registry key:

\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASANYe_mtrs8

there may be something amiss in the service definition.

You probably want to consider a defrag of the C:\ at some point. A few
file fragments are going to naturally occur over time as the file grows,
but this is a larger number that may be cause for concern.

You may want to try the Microsoft Sysinternals utility "contig" if you
don't wish to run a defrag on the entire disk and would rather just
defrag the database file:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/FileAndDisk/Contig.mspx

Hi, I've added the "-z" parameter, and here is the new log
file. Also I'll try to defragment the harddrive this
weekend, thanks.
