Hello!
One our customer has Intel PRO/1000 PT Dual Port Server Adapter working
on server with ADS.
This adapter has 2 ethernet ports and ability to make load balancing.
All ports are connected with cables to the same switch.
First port has IP 192.168.1.160, second has IP 192.168.1.161.
Client machines work with first port by default, but when network load
on this port becomes 50% or higher, it's smart chip starts to make load
balancing among two ports.

In client's machines there are ads.ini files with these options:
[Server]
LAN_IP=192.168.1.160
LAN_port=6010

So, it's working fine, but sometimes, actually several times a day,
errors occure with error messages something like "bad ip address for
connection" (can't check now what the exact error numbers are).

Has anybody experience working ADS with this network card?
What options could you suggest to set in ads.ini file?

Are you certain the ports are BOTH runing in BOTH directions ?

I believe I read somewhere that the card you mention only works inbound
on failover to the second port. Not sure though.

If possible switch over to "teaming". I don??t know if the
Intel cards will support that, HP networks cards can do that.

Teaming is a featute to combine ports to enhance the
bandwidth but "outside" they only have one single IP/IPX
address.

It??s not only much more comfortable to configure and offers
more speed. It also add redundancy to the server cause if
one card/port fails, the IP/IPX-adress is still available on
the other port.

In case of your two ports, this is the scenario:

1) Enable teaming. With HP cards, there a software will be
installed together with the lan-driver. If you have a
Windows-Server check the system setup area for the new icon.

2) The two physical network ports/cards configuration will
be disabled if you enable teaming. A third virtual card will
appear. This card also will have a new virtual MAC adress.

3) Plug the cable to the same switch.

That??s it.

No hassle with parallel adresses and same speed.
