Why is it that MDI within MDI is not supported? What's wrong
with it?

Because two wrongs don't make a right?? ;)

Seriously though, MDI is on its way out as a UI metaphor, and has been for
some time. I would think that compounding that by nesting MDI frame windows
would only confuse users even more.

Its not a PB limitation its the design of MS-Windows.
So Neil needs to pose this question to Bill Gates. :-)

ohhh. too bad. It would be nice to group related things
together. It's neat and elegant. I hope it would be
preserved. It's better to have an empty container than
having a garbage scattered all around. :)

That what the Tab object is for... Use that organize related data in a
single sheet, instead of trying to nest MDI frames within other MDI frames.
In the WPF world, you have many more choices for "container" types, and PB12
.NET will support all of them.
